[So, you want a shadow and to become a minion of DA? The process is not as simple as it sounds, and can potentially drastically affect how your character acts in certain situations. If you have a shadow, you have a responsibility to act on DA's commands. You cannot simply decide to have a shadow, or pick and choose effects of a shadow. Shadows can only be gained through RP. Here is an excerpt about the shadow's from DA's Bio.

"His defining ability is what has been dubbed simply as his ‘shadows’. These are malicious entities that could be comparable to Trojan horse malware. They give the Enterprise autopilot unauthorized access to the infected’s system, and can be used to completely control the host wirelessly when in range of the autopilot. He can also gather information by receiving sound and visual from the infected at the temporary sacrifice of his own. He can only infect a system with a shadow through a direct connection between them and himself- via cable.

When not nearby, the malicious entities are able to influence their hosts- mostly through social engineering. They can however affect the infected’s vision, and can appear to them or cause illusions. These entities are partial copies of the Enterprise autopilot’s personality, and all act with his agenda in mind. They have a weak ability to adapt, and are limited to what they can do on their own to try and stave off the potential of any of them going rogue. They can be given special agendas by the Enterprise autopilot whenever he is in wireless range."

Here are some notes about Shadows.

• Shadows can only be given by DA. They cannot leave their hosts or replicate themselves.

• Shadows are not passed by bites.

• Shadows can only be given by a direct link, (aka- a cable from DA’s wrist to the back of the victim’s neck) The process of receiving a Shadow is a complicated process, involving the hacking and conquering of a robot’s mind and system. When this is occurring DA is completely vulnerable. Example: [link]

• Shadows cannot be removed without a complete wipe of the infected’s system. When you have it, you have it forever.

• Shadows will act in self preservation for both them and their host, and do what is necessary to protect themselves. The exception is against DA himself, knowing he will not completely destroy such a valuable asset. They also seem to enjoy the attention.

• Shadows can act independently, but it’s always in DA’s interests.

• Shadows can cause hallucinations and distortions of reality of an infected. They can appear and speak directly, even though no one is really there. They speak as if they are DA himself, and manifest in his image- which can be confusing and distressing to the host.

• Shadows rarely act or speak unless necessary. When they do, they usually resort to Social Engineering.

• Shadows allow DA to gain direct control of the infected at the cost of vulnerabilities to himself. (Aka- If he is to see through an infected’s eyes- he cannot see through his own.) This is rarely used, and DA prefers to simply send out wireless commands so the shadows can do his bidding for him.

• Those with a shadow can try and fight it for control of their actions. The effectiveness depends on the will of the infected and if DA is present.

• When you have a shadow, you lose any ability to try and speak directly about the shadow or to reveal information about DA. The shadow stops you from speaking. A good example can be found here: [link]

• DA is very good at what he does, and has had years of practice. Many a Robot and Cyborg* have fallen to his will in this way.

* A cyborg’s vulnerability depends on the robotic parts they have. Though its rare DA would have interest in a Cyborg unless the percentage of robotic parts far exceeds the human. This is due simply to preference and his relative dislike of humans.
